Got it all set up the other day. So far, so good. Loving the push email vs. the IMAP accounts I had set up before - and the fact that everything is synchronized across all my devices - desktop/laptop/phone.

Thanks for the replies. I already tested one infrequently used domain of mine and it was easy to set up and use. I'll probably switch the other one over and start using it that way. Seems like it should work out well - and be the best way to get synchronized, easily accessible, and easily searched email across all my computers and devices.

I'm using Google Apps for Domains for all my domains ; phomago.com, oxle.com and oxle.nl in one group and Scoutingkeentmoesel.nl in another.
I'm using it via IMAP on my iPhone, my wife's using it on her HTC Hero (Android), and it all works great.

On the Scoutingkeentmoesel.nl realm however we've been experiencing some issues with the mailinglists ; they're using mailingslists that send mails outside the scoutingkeentmoesel.nl domain (such as hotmail, gmail and ISP specific SMTP addresses) quite heavily there but the users are mentioning that they notice delivery delays, and some mails not reaching all listmembers.

However, the ones that use the Google Apps accounts directly are very happy with it.

Privacy may be an issue if you do not trust Google to be a trustworthy supplier, and yes potentially Google knows too much.

With respect to POP and IMAP : I've been using the IMAP connection at home in Outlook for a while and on my iPhone it's exclusively on IMAP. However, when on a PC I just use the webinterface (http://mymail.oxle.com) and I think it works better than Outlook. The only thing I'm missing is support for multiple signatures. That can be achieved with some FireFox plugins, but not out of the box.

I also have Google Apps for my domain and I must say: I love it

Android phone (I've a G1) syncs calendar, contacts and emails. It was never so easy.

Google Apps (and Gmail) supports Webmail, Activesync, POP and IMAP. So you can configure your favorite mailapplication to use Gmail/Google Apps.
Funny thing is, that labels in Gmail are folders in your mail application when using Activesync or IMAP.

Marcel, are you still using Google Apps Email (Gmail) for your oxle.com domain? I'm thinking of switching my primary address over and was wondering your experiences with the whole setup.

There are a few reasons why I want to do it, the primary one being it integrates seamlessly with my Android phone - push email and all. I'd also just like to change the way I access my email.

Right now I use POP and download all my mail (have for 10 years now) but leave up to 30 days worth on the server to access with my phone and other places via IMAP but it would be easier if I had it all available online. That, combined with the power of Google search, makes it a good reason to switch. Also the fact that I can search my entire Inbox very quickly directly from my phone is awesome.

The other thing - if I switch I don't have to worry so much about backups. I'll still backup my entire email client message database, but it will give me another level of security.... so long as I can trust Google not to lose my email (being it won't be locally downloaded). That, along with possible privacy issues, are my main concerns. If you have any input, let me know. I know you've been using it for a while now but aren't sure if you still are.
