Perhaps even more impressive than California's Big Sur area is the Oregon Coast near Bandon, Oregon.

Actually, we've been watching the "Doc Martin" series on DVD and love the town of Portwenn (Port Isaac) scenes. What a fantastic photo op that place would be. I'd love to spend a season there.
yes, Port Isaac is lovely, we have a static caravan in Cornwall, my parents live down there so we spend quite a lot of time in cornwall, it is where my fishing boat is too, so if you do ever get over here give us a shout you are welcome to use the caravan.
Another waypoint on highway 101 on the Oregon Coast. The fog has retreated to offshore. It's all pacific ocean from here on out. July 2010

Thank you, and yes we know that. . .and we are trying to take advantage of visiting some of these places.
Oregon allows public access to it's entire coast line. Private property can extend only to the high tide line. This was done because in the early days, the rugged coast line prevented travel except by beach. The State of Oregon has many many highway turn offs that permit access to some of it's great beauty. One such is arch rock near Gold Beach on a foggy morning.
That arch rock is a very nice shot. Fog is great for photos. I'll check out the rest when I get back from my vacation. (I'm in the middle of it right now.)

It is the same in the uk, between low water and high water is owned by the crown and is open to everyone. Most of the coast of the british isles has a public footpath around it which is also open to everyone.
Oregan looks very nice, may have to pay it a visit one day.
Thanks for the comp Huw. . .there are still more photos that I've no sorted yet. . . I don't know how long Google will store personal maps, but I made this map of our planned trip. There is much more to Oregon. . .I only need more time to visit!
It seems I'll never get to all the things I wanted to do. . .so I'll close this post with one last photo from the Oregon coast and leave a link to my fledgling on-line gallery.
