I just stumbled upon this link : http://www.prophotonut.com/200../..es/#more-724

Canon supplied a model, Lisa, and I took pictures while demonstrating the camera’s capability to the hundred or so press and distributors who attended throughout the day. I only shot Jpegs as we had no way of processing the RAW files. So these pictures are only 8 bit and not 14 bit RAWs. I downloaded them into Lightroom and made a few tweaks before using Photoshop to do a bit of spot removal as per a normal jpeg workflow. I was careful to preserve the histogram where possible although some pulling about of the files was inevitable.

It shows several shots made on the launch-day of the Canon 5D Mark II, shot with a preproduction model, on high ISO values.

Man, this is amazing....even though they've put 21 million pixels on the 35mm-film-sized sensor, the noise is remarkably low.
This really makes me want to get a 5D....damn Pentax.

So now your wonderful K20d is not good enough anymore? ;-)

I expect Pentax to come out with a full frame this year or early next year. They (and Olympus) are the only ones without one!

Results are nice but not unexpected.. I wonder how it handles under exposed shots though, most camera's have more difficult with that...

I sure hope Pentax will enter the fullframe arena soon.....[oO]

And yes, Wauske, I'm also curious to see how the low-light high-ISO shots will look like. There's not much noise you cán create in overblown highlights with minimum exposure times [:)]
But, what I can see from these images sure looks suprisingly well! The details remain pretty much ok, even at ISO6400....that ISO value is practically unusable on my K20D, even in broad daylight. I'll make a daytime ISO6400 shot later this week to show the difference.

Man....the 5D Mark II is amazing...here's how it's HD film feature performs in low-light conditions:

Marcel, noise @high ISO in moving images can't really be compared to status images as far as i know. We'll see how good it is once it finally releases.

Wauske, true. But still, that video is amazing especially since what we see comes straight out of the camera! There's no post processing applied except the scene editing, intro text and end text. I find this pretty stunning to say the least.

Marcel, you should know better than that. The easiest way to hide noise is by resizing, because with an estimate of 10% noise and 50% reduction a LOT of noise will be gone...

But yes, the images itself are really good. Could be interesting what this will do with the semi-pro video equipment market too :P

Not just the semi-pro equipment market ; even the pro-market has to come up with an answer how a 2700 dollar Canon camera can seem to be competing with a $ 15.000 RED camera ; it records in 1080p in 30 fps ; there's not much more you need in terms of quantity. The quality of the image is also pretty ok to say the least, and the wide range of interchangeable lenses that's available for the Canon platform (including tilt&shift, wideangle, extreme wideangle, supertele etc) makes it a pretty freakin' GREAT alternative to use on the go, and if you're on a budget.
Okay, there's no big monitor on the back that's true, and I can imagine the RAW datastream a RED camera records is different and more versatile compared to the preprocessed M4V file the Digic processor produces, but still ; you can buy 6 5D's for the price of one RED.
